Major Michael P. Van Liew
Major Van Liew was raised in Cranford, New Jersey. He commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2014. After graduating The Basic School, he completed the Ground Intelligence Officer entry-level training pipeline.
His operating force assignments include intelligence officer positions at the battalion, regimental, and division level; and command at the platoon and company level. His deployments include an individual augment to Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve and within Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
He reported to Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion in August 2024 and assumed command of Company B in May 2025.
Major Van Liew is married to Monica Lindblad of Glenwood, MN and has no children. His hobbies include writing, camping, hiking, weight lifting, running, and skiing.
