Biography

Company Commander
Major Chris A. Reithmann
Major Reithmann enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1996 and graduated with the rank of Private from recruit training at Paris Island, SC, and was assigned the MOS of 2621, Morse Code Intercept Operator and Cryptanalyst.  Upon completion of MOS school, he received orders to 2d Radio Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served as a Radio Reconnaissance Operator from 1998 to 2001, and deployed twice with the 24th and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU-SOC).  

Major Reithmann reenlisted and received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor while assigned to Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Bn.  He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (meritoriously) prior to being selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning and Education Program (MECEP) in 2004.     

Major Reithmann reported to the University of Texas, Naval ROTC in 2005, where he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant, earned his degree in Business Management, and was commissioned in December 2008. In 2009-2010, he completed The Basic Officer Course in Quantico, VA, the Signals Intelligence Officer Course in Damneck, VA, and received orders to 3d Radio Battalion, III MEF Headquarters Group, HI.  While assigned to 3d Radio Battalion, he served as assistant officer in charge and officer in charge for Detachment 14 and deployed to the southern Philippines in support of the Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines (JSOTF-P) and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM-Philippines from October 2010 to June 2011 and again in 2012.  Upon returning, he reported to Bravo Company where he served as the Executive Officer and Company Commander until receiving orders to Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS), Quantico, VA in 2013.   

Upon graduating EWS, Major Reithmann was assigned to Hotel Company, Second Marine Raider Battalion (MRB), Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) in Camp Lejeune, NC, where he served as the company intelligence officer and deployed in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE (OIR) in 2016.  Upon return, he assumed duties as 2d MRB intelligence officer from 2016–2017 and participated in exercise Eager Lion in 2017, leading all U.S. intelligence support alongside coalition partners in Jordan.  Shortly upon return, he received orders to Company H, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion (MCSB), San Antonio, TX where he served as the Company Executive Officer and Deputy Division Chief in support of the National Security Agency from 2017-2019.  He was promoted to Major on 1 November 2018, and served as Company Commander from May 2019 to June 2022, before receiving orders to Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii (MCBH), where he served two years as the 3d Radio Battalion Operations Officer and two years as the Headquarters Battalion Executive Officer, for MCB Hawaii.  Maj Reithmann assumed command of Company D, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion (MCSB) aboard Fort Gordon, GA, on 23 June 2026, where he’s currently stationed.

Major Reithmann is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School and Marine Corps Command and Staff College and earned a BA in Business Management and an MA in Organizational Leadership.
