Lieutenant Colonel Brendan M Finn
Lieutenant Colonel Brendan Finn was raised in Milton, MA. He was commissioned in March 2006 after completing the Officer Candidates Course at Officer Candidates School. Following completion of The Basic School, Infantry Officer Course, and Ground Intelligence Officer Course, he reported to Second Reconnaissance Battalion, Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in June 2008.

From June 2008 to January 2010, Second Lieutenant Finn served as Platoon Commander for Second Platoon, Company A, and deployed with a detachment from Second Reconnaissance Battalion to Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In January 2010, First Lieutenant Finn was assigned as Executive Officer, Company C, Second Reconnaissance Battalion, and supervised the Pre-deployment Training Periods and Mission Essential Task certification of four Reconnaissance platoons prior to their attachment to Marine Expeditionary Units.

After completion of the MAGTF Intelligence Officer Course in March 2011, Captain Finn was assigned to Company B, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion in June 2011. He served as Second Platoon Commander and as a Military Affairs Advisor in the Foreign Affairs Directorate of the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. In July 2012, he was assigned to Headquarters Company, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion and served as Marine Liaison Officer at a government program. In November 2013, Captain Finn deployed in support of a Special Operations Task Force in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In October 2014, Captain Finn ended his active service and was commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Assigned to IMA Detachment, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion, he served as Deputy Officer-in-Charge of one of its two sections and as Marine Liaison Officer and Acting Military Liaison Officer at a government program.

In October 2019, Major Finn was reassigned to IMA Detachment, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command and served in the G-7. In October 2021, he was reassigned to IMA Detachment, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion, in which he served as Operations Officer at a government program and as the IMA Detachment’s Deputy Officer-in-Charge and Officer-in-Charge of one of its two sections, Operations Officer, Deputy Director. Lieutenant Colonel Finn became Director, IMA Detachment, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion in August 2024.

Lieutenant Colonel Finn received a Master of Policy Management from Georgetown University in May 2015 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire in May 2016. He completed Command and Staff College Distance Education Program in 2019 as Distinguished Graduate. In 2017, the Governor of New Hampshire appointed him to the State Veterans Council, in which he supervised the state’s Office of Veterans Services and advised the Governor on veterans’ affairs.

Lieutenant Colonel Finn and his wife live in the New Hampshire Seacoast with their children.
