Master Sergeant Power was born in Fallbrook, CA and raised in Kailua, HI. Shortly after graduating high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended recruit training at Parris Island, SC from September to December, 2006.
Following recruit training, Private First Class Power attended the Basic Persian-Farsi course at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) from September, 2007 to September 2008. He then attended the Persian-Farsi Cryptologic Language Course at Goodfellow Air Force Base from September, 2008 to January, 2009.
Lance Corporal Power was then assigned to 2nd Radio Battalion in Camp Lejeune, NC from February, 2009 to March, 2012. He deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit to the US AFRICOM area of operations from August 2010 to May 2011 as a crewman on a Marine Electronic Warfare Support System team. He then redeployed to Afghanistan from July 2011 to January 2012.
Sergeant Power was then reassigned to Company D, Marine Cryptologic Support Support Battalion (MCSB) at Fort Gordon, Georgia from April, 2012 to July, 2015. During this time he worked as a mission manager and deployed to Afghanistan from December 2014 to June 2015 in support of Operation RESOLUTE SUPPORT.
Upon return, Staff Sergeant Power was next assigned to the DLI at Monterey, California from August 2015 to July 2018. While there he worked as a Military Language Instructor, Platoon Commander, Company Gunnery Sergeant, and the unit’s Ground Safety Representative.
Staff Sergeant Power then applied and was selected to attend the full-time study undergraduate program at the National Intelligence University (NIU) from August 2018 to July 2019. While there, he received special recognition for his capstone project on multi-lateral maritime security in the South China Sea, which was selected as the top research project among the undergraduate cohort that academic year.
Gunnery Sergeant Power was next assigned to 3d Radio Battalion at Marine Corps Base Hawaii from August 2019 to August 2022. There he worked as a Watch Chief in the Operational Control and Analysis Center; deployed to Okinawa, Japan from December 2020 to June 2021; and worked as an analyst in with US Indopacific Command from August 2021 to February 2022.
Master Sergeant Power began his present tour at Company B, MCSB at Fort Meade, Maryland in August, 2022. Since arriving, he has served in multiple managerial capacities, including as the Senior Enlisted Leader of Company B, MCSB.
Master Sergeant Power holds an Associate of Arts in Persian-Farsi from DLI, a Bachelor of Science in Intelligence from NIU, and a Certificate of Intelligence studies in Chinese Geostrategic Intelligence Issues from NIU. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (x2), and Combat Action Ribbon.
