Major Benton W. Pittman
Benton W. Pittman Jr. was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2012 after graduating from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. 2ndLt Pittman completed The Basic School in December 2012 and was assigned as an Aviation Intelligence Officer. After completing follow-on training at Aviation Intelligence Officer's Course, he was awarded the 0207 MOS.
In April 2013, 2ndLt Pittman reported to 2nd Intelligence Battalion in Camp Lejeune, NC and subsequently, in June 2013, deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan with Echo Company, 2nd Intelligence Battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon redeployment, he was reassigned as 3rd Platoon Commander. 2ndLt Pittman's platoon was assigned as the Direct Support Platoon for the II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Intelligence Center, supporting forward deployed units and the II MEF Commanding General with all-source intelligence production and analysis. On May 12, 2014, 2ndLt Pittman was promoted to First Lieutenant.
In August 2014, 1stLt Pittman was assigned as the Intelligence Production and Analysis Officer in Charge for the II Marine Expeditionary Brigade. 1stLt Pittman returned to 2d Intelligence Battalion in September 2015, where he then participated in a bi-lateral intelligence exercise with the British Army in Exercise Phoenix Odyssey 2 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Following Exercise Phoenix Odyssey 2, 1stLt Pittman served as the Direct Support Company Operations and Training Officer.
In June 2016, 1stLt Pittman reported to 10th Marine Regiment, where he served as the Regiment's Intelligence Officer, Small Unmanned Aerial Systems Program Manager, Security Manager. On April 1, 2017, 1stLt Pittman was promoted to Captain.
In July 2018, Capt Pittman reported to Marine Aircraft Group 26 to serve as the Group Intelligence Officer. In the fall of 2018, he represented 2d Marine Aircraft Wing as the Liaison Officer to II Marine Expeditionary Force during Exercise Trident Juncture in Norway. Capt Pittman graduated from the Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Program in 2020.
In June 2021, Capt Pittman reported to First Recruit Training Battalion aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. He completed three recruit training cycles as a series commander with Bravo Company. Capt Pittman was recognized as the honor graduate of his Series Commander Course and was selected for promotion to major in November 2021.
In June 2022, Capt Pittman checked into 2d Marine Aircraft wing and assumed the duties of G-2 Operations Officer. In August of 2022, he was promoted to major. In July of 2023, Maj Pittman executed PCS orders to Company D, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion in Fort Eisenhower, Augusta, GA where he currently serves as the company commander.
Major Pittman's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal third award.
